Update on church repair works from Alicia Stolliday and Edwina Hookway (Church Wardens)

While access was limited, we worked hard to maintain our many fine and useful artefacts, such as the wonderful kneelers that we all treasure, crafted by people in the community. As colourful as the gorgeous stained glass, they are well worth a look. Thanks to Annie, Sue, Edwina and Alex for their help with getting the church back into shape for reopening.

The first stage of work in the tower is complete – the functioning clock and safe clock chamber floor. There is more to do, but happily we are making progress at last.

The church architect is about to make his ‘quinquennial inspection’ – a five-yearly survey of the building, churchyard, and contents. His conclusions will help us plan work for the next five years. We hope the inspection of the roof and ceiling will be completed soon too, pointing the way for necessary repairs.

The churchyard is looking beautiful, an appropriate setting for relatives and friends to remember the departed.
