Update on church repairs and maintenance – October 2021

The Quinquennial Report received in October 2021 identified that an urgent repair was need to NE corner of the Organ loft, necessitating a bat survey which has been carried out by Ecological Consultant David Wills on 22 September and a discussion with the Organ Builders Henry Wills has taken place in order to protect the Organ from debris .

The Maintenance Group continued their regular work of inspections to identify any problems and reporting these occasions in the Vestry Maintenance Log . Work continued in the churchyard to clear nettles and brambles from headstones and below yew tree, remove ivy from the west wall of the churchyard and clear drains and gutters . All of this is in addition to the regular extensive work of mowing and strimming which is very much appreciated .

Examination of the ceiling and roof will start at the end of October 2021 which necessitates the erection of scaffolding in several areas of the nave, chancel and outside.
